The Spens family name loosely translates to “keeper of the larder” and we find no better way to honour this than to create culinary masterpieces using the seasonal offerings Scotland provides.
We use produce from our own walled garden as well as the neighbouring farms and Estates. Our meat and protein are carefully selected from local artisan suppliers, allowing our menus to feature the finest of Scottish ingredients. We feature wines from around the globe to complement our seasonal fare, while the bar offers local beer on tap and an excellent range of Scottish whisky and gin.
Our restaurant and bar face the South lawn and gardens providing sweeping views of the surrounding countryside. The large wood burning stove and open fireplaces provide a warm atmosphere for those cooler, rainy days.

Garden to Table
Acres of woodland and gardens surround Craigsanquhar, but the most unique feature is the walled garden from which we pull our ingredients fresh each day.
The garden began its restoration in June of 2019. The formal portion of the garden is complete and maturing with over 60 different plant and flower species. A green house was also installed along the back South facing wall and an espalier apple orchard runs the entire length of the East wall. The Kitchen garden is currently being restored to produce a myriad of herbs, fruits, vegetables, and cut flowers making the garden as beautiful as it is productive. Come meet our gardeners and let them share their passion with you as you explore the peaceful surroundings.
